Friday’s Four Favorite- iPhone Apps for School

Happy Friday All!

This week, I wanted to share my 4 Favorite iPhone Apps.  These are the apps I find using more than any other on my phone for school.  These do not include the stock apps like Mail or Safari which are indispensable.   So in no particular order, here are my 4 Favorite iPhone Apps for School.

THE app I use to store the articles I find online.  From their website “Put articles, videos or pretty much anything into Pocket. Save directly from your browser or from apps like Twitter, Flipboard, and Pulse.”  A very simple app to use, it stores anything I can find online, allows me to tag it and retrieve it on any device.

One of the first apps I put on my iPhone when I get a new one or need to re-do my current device.  There are many great Twitter clients out there, but Tweetbot makes it easy to maintain multiple accounts, give me analytics, looks great and is easy to use.  Can’t ask for much more.

This one is a surprise to me as well.  Google+ has become one of my go to places for personal learning.  I found a few great circles to be a part of (GEG Eastern PA, Instructional Technology Coaches, GEG Kansas, GAFE Admins and more) and I learn new things every visit to Google+.  Well worth looking into if you forgot about it.

When I got my current iPhone, this was one of the first 3 apps I installed.  Even though long time users may complain about the changes, I have found Evernote to be easy to use, full of features and very reliable.  The ability to easily combine all types of notes (photo, post-it, typed, business card, etc) is tough to beat.  While I currently pay for premium, I don’t think it is necessary for most people.

Others receiving votes

  • Flipboard- I liked Zite more, but Flipboard purchased it and shut it down.
  • Downcast- my podcast manager of choice, there is a slight learning curve to this one.  If I weren’t invested in the app, I think I would change to Overcast
  • Google Docs/Drive– I do use these a lot…more every day, so maybe these will make the list next year
